— OUR STORY —
Built on Decades of Real-World Security Experience
Clearpost Advisory was founded on a straightforward observation: most mid-sized companies face genuine security challenges, but the expertise to address them has historically been out of reach - locked inside large corporations or priced beyond what growing businesses can justify.
Clearpost Advisory is informed by the founder’s experience in corporate security leadership, public-private security collaboration, threat-awareness practices, and critical infrastructure protection.

— Meet Brian
Security Leadership Your Organization Can Actually Access
Brian J. Ilg brings 31 years of corporate security experience to Clearpost Advisory, spanning roles from the ground level to regional program oversight. His career began as a security officer at Verizon Wireless Corporate Headquarters in New Jersey, where his performance led quickly to a promotion as Executive Protection Specialist assigned directly to the CEO of Verizon Wireless. That early experience set a standard for accountability and situational awareness that has shaped everything since.
From there, Brian expanded into pharmaceutical and healthcare security before moving into enterprise corporate security at scale. Over three decades he has managed security programs across hospitals, major corporate headquarters, hospitality environments, and large-scale public events — experience that spans the full range of environments his clients operate in. That depth is what Clearpost Advisory brings to every engagement.
Brian founded Clearpost Advisory to make that enterprise-grade thinking available to mid-size California organizations that need it but don't have a dedicated security leader on staff. He is a member of ASIS International and maintains active affiliations with several public-private sector security and intelligence organizations across California and is currently pursuing SME certification in AI and Physical Security — a field he sees as increasingly relevant to the clients he serves.
— WHO WE ARE —
Senior Expertise. Applied Where It’s Needed Most.
Brian brings three decades of corporate security leadership spanning Fortune 500 environments, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and major corporate events — including hands-on experience managing physical security programs, conducting enterprise-level risk assessments, building compliance frameworks, and leading crisis response across complex, high-stakes environments.
We provide that same level of expertise to California companies with 50 to 500 employees. Not watered down. Not templated. Built specifically for your organization, your industry, and your risk profile.
“Where Fortune 500 Security Meets the Mid-Market.”
- CLEARPOST ADVISORY
Every engagement starts with a conversation - not a proposal. We take the time to understand your business and your actual risk environment before recommending anything.

— HOW WE WORK —
Practical. Honest. Built for Your Business.
We don’t believe in security theater - policies that sit on shelves, reports that overwhelm, or recommendations that don’t match your actual resources. Every engagement is built around what your organization actually needs.
01
CONVERSATION BEFORE PROPOSAL
Every engagement starts with a candid conversation about your situation - not a boilerplate proposal. We want to understand your business before recommending anything. Some companies need a comprehensive program. Others need one specific thing addressed. We’ll tell you honestly which one you are.
02
PRACTICAL OVER PERFECT
We deliver documentation your team will actually use - not 200-page binders that collect dust. Crisis plans your staff will follow. Policies written in plain language. Assessment reports with clear, prioritized action items rather than exhaustive theoretical frameworks.
03
PROACTIVE PARTNERSHIP
The best fractional security directors don’t wait to be asked. We notice things, flag issues, and bring recommendations without being prompted. You hired us to watch out for you - that’s what we do, month after month, not just during formal review periods.
04
COMPLETE DISCRETION
Security work is sensitive by nature. What we learn about your organization, your vulnerabilities, and your leadership stays strictly confidential. We work discreetly, communicate carefully, and treat your security situation with the same confidentiality we’d expect for our own.

— WHY CLEARPOST —
What Sets Us Apart
The fractional security consulting market is developing. Here’s why Clearpost Advisory is the right choice for mid-market companies.
FORTUNE 500 CREDENTIALS, MID-MARKET PRICING
Executive-level expertise from major corporate institutions - the same caliber of security leadership that Fortune 500 companies pay $150,000+ per year for, available on a retainer basis starting at $1,500/month.
APPROACHABLE, NOT INSTITUTIONAL
We don’t communicate in jargon or deliver overwhelming reports. We explain things clearly, recommend what’s actually necessary, and work as a partner - not a vendor delivering a contract obligation.
CALIFORNIA FOCUSED
We serve California companies exclusively. We understand the regulatory environment, the geography, and the specific industries that drive California’s economy - not a national firm trying to serve everyone everywhere.
RETAINER MODEL, NOT PROJECT CHURN
We build ongoing relationships with clients, not one-time engagements. Your security program improves month over month because we’re consistently watching, advising, and improving - not completing a project and moving on.
